In many ways, urban hiking is just hiking, but in a city. If rain and snow is something you expect to encounter time to time than get a pair of waterproof hiking boots with either a GORE-TEX lining or something similar. If you know they have to implement a program before they can spend time considering (or funds purchasing) your product then you can schedule a call back at a later date that may stand a better chance of getting some attention. The Narrows is one of the most popular trails in Zion, so expect a lot of crowds here no matter what time of day you get here. The hike is 10 mile round trip to the Big Spring, which would take a full day to hike round trip. My personal evolution, i.e. the gradual development of my mountaineering activities, always leads me to search and test the most appropriate gear in order to perform better and most of all in full safety. Congratulations, if you made it this far, you are probably wearing the correctly sized shoes and are ready to go out and flash the next test piece on your tick list. In fact, they are specifically asking Android users to beta test their new updates so if you’re an interested Android user, head on over to their website.

One of the weirdest examples of this is that guy at the concert holding an enormous iPad above his head to record the show. Arrange a ride with one of the shuttle services, or plan on shuttling cars. Ride the shuttle to the Temple of Sinawava, walk one mile to the end of the paved Riverside Walk, and begin wading up the river. The Temple of Sinawava Trailhead is located at the end of the shuttle route, so just hop on the bus for a quick ride to the start of the hike. Many hikers try to reach Orderville Canyon, a tributary creek approximately 2 hours upstream from the end of the paved trail. A popular canyoneering route goes through Orderville Gulch, which is more narrow than the Narrows, reaching 10-foot widths in places. While a 33-carat diamond isn't something you see every day, surely there's more than one in the world. Nevertheless, there are plenty of ways to find a little peace and quiet while visiting Zion. While there’s bound to be people wherever you go (especially if you hike the Narrows or Angels Landing!), these places will at least allow you to avoid the majority of the masses.

From November through May, trips through the Narrows usually require wet or dry suits and special cold-weather preparation. In general, synthetics are lighter, more breathable, more flexible, less expensive and dry faster than leather. My dry socks and shoes made for a much more comfortable afternoon! Much like the Miura, the Vapor V combines performance and comfort into a single package. You don’t need much cooling, or want a lot of openings to let in whatever might rain down on you. Crowd management has gotten a lot better since the park introduced the main valley shuttle system, but it can still feel a little overwhelming-especially during the summer. Climbing at times involves a lot of taking your shoes off and having them on. Stay on trails: taking shortcuts causes trail erosion and is dangerous. Dry bags are recommended for anything that needs to stay dry, like a camera or a phone.

If you have already hiked the Narrows, let us know in comments what was your experience like. Rangers typically have up-to-date trail conditions and are skilled at suggesting hikes for all skill levels. Find out if the trail is a loop, or if you’ll have to backtrack or spot a second car. The trail meets with the Zion Narrows two hours upstream of the Temple of Sinawava. Zion National Park is one of the most visited national parks in the country, which means it can start to feel very small during the busy season. Start your hike at the Temple of Sinawava via The Riverside Walk which is a 2 mile flat hike to the starting point of the Narrows. The Narrows is a gorge carved by the Virgin river in the narrowest part of the canyon in Zion National Park (hence the name "Narrows") and is only 20-30 feet wide in some areas.
